The European Energy Exchange (EEX) is the leading energy exchange in Europe and a part of the EEX Group. At the EEX, contracts are traded with energy, coal and emission rights as well as freight and agricultural products or registered for clearing.

The EEX Group encompasses commercial entities of all kinds that specialise in individual markets or market segments. The objective is to keep growing jointly as a group and position itself in the competitive environment as a global commodity exchange. In brand-strategy workshops, the interplay between the EEX Group and the individual units was made a subject of discussion. 

With representatives from all over Europe, we have developed a brand understanding and made brand-architectural decisions that serve as a basis for the new appearance.

Corporate design
Flexible design principle


Building on the intensive brand process, we have developed a corporate design for the EEX Group and its entities, which will gradually assume the new appearance. The new design strengthens the sense of group togetherness and lets every part of the company shine with its own character.

The business model and strategy, offers and performance, perspectives and responsibility of European Energy Exchange AG are revealed by the members of the Management Board in interviews and conversations, followed by data and facts. Concise key figures, moreover, provide an incentive to read within the Management Report.

Visions for sustainable growth

For the third time in succession, we have realised the EEX AG Annual Report. The main emphasis of this year's annual report is the visionary overview of the Group's future themes: a subject that cannot be illustrated, instead existing as an idea, a sketch. The text in the report is commented on with handwritten remarks and the future developments and potential are summarised. It's a concept that brings the identification stage into focus.

Growing into new dimensions

The 2015 report looks back at EEX's 15-year existence to date and at what has easily been its most successful financial year. What began as a local energy exchange is now much more than that: EEX is not only growing beyond energy trading, it is also becoming increasingly international in its scope. The EEX Group aims to enter every significant energy market in Europe and to serve as a one-stop shop for its trading participants. 2015 saw the consistent continuation of this policy which is reflected in the current report. The report includes a guest article by Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission with responsibility for the Energy Union.

Annual report 2014


In a joint workshop, we developed the content of the 2014 annual report together with EEX. The report is aimed primarily at trading participants, partners, shareholders and multipliers.

EEX knows its customers down to the last detail – an absolute necessity if markets are to be developed further as part of a joint process. This cooperative spirit hinges on fruitful dialogue. The actual report is preceded by a 20-page strategy and image section. It is based on discussions involving all of the Management Board's members – accompanied by photographs taken during the conversations. A guest article is provided by German Federal Minister Sigmar Gabriel. Each article is supplemented by facts and figures.
