With the open-cloud platform tapio (www.tapio.one), Homag is making its way into Industry 4.0. Homag is the world's leading manufacturer of machines and facilities for the woodworking industry: on the occasion of the LIGNA fair, the company launched its new digital brand tapio, which in just six weeks was conceived, designed and implemented by wirDesign.

What does a digital brand look like?

wirDesign developed the digital brand tapio in just six weeks. At LIGNA 2017, Homag presented the woodworking industry's first IoT platform to the public.

We have developed the new brand from the digital product and created a fluid, scalable design. The generic key visual in the form of organic tree rings combines the natural origin of the wood with the digital future of Industry 4.0 and the pictorial translation of the claim: digital. wood. works.

 

The programmed key visual presents itself in new ways time and again individually in unique forms, with the brand always remaining recognisable.

In close cooperation with the developer teams on the client side, there emerged in quick time not only a new brand including corporate design in print and web applications, but also a progressive web app. tapio stands for Tap – Input – Output, in other words for just a few clicks to the solution.

Trade-fair communication and out-of-home media
Hello world.

HOMAG launched the new digital brand at LIGNA 2017. We were responsible for the tapio trade-fair communication and out-of-home media.

Some initial tapio products could already be seen live in action at LIGNA – including, for example, the live status of a system and messages from machines. These could be followed using a freely available app by all visitors to the fair.

CD implementation
Website und online style guide

Most recently, we have developed the tapio website as a multipager for German and English and a Chinese variant is coming soon. The website contains, among other things, a partner log-in behind which exclusive information about tapio and its products is concealed.

In order to explain the corporate design and implement the brand presence in an emphatic manner, wirDesign developed and programmed a web-based style guide that contains all basic elememts together with application examples from the corporate design. Brochures, flyers and further CD applications are available for download there. As well as best-practice examples, the style guide contains design patterns for UX/UI and software developers, who are necessary because they can programme within tapio's Corporate Design.
